I can’t give you specifics, but I’ve been listening to a set of podcasts that deal with security over the internet and computing. It’s called Security Now!, and it’s headed up by a couple of people from the TechTV days, Leo Laporte and Steve Gibson of Gibson Research.

It’s a really good podcast, and deals alot with how DRM works in various situations(Vista’s DRM, Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, AACS, etc. etc.)

Some good podcasts to note are:
http://www.twit.tv/sn75 – Vista DRM
http://www.twit.tv/sn73 – Next Gen. Copy Protection

But this site is great for general security-related knowledge presented in a layman’s language. Definitely Check it out.

Is there a way to restore pictures saved to the internal memory of my Kodak digital camera?

Question by heathh84: Is there a way to restore pictures saved to the internal memory of my Kodak digital camera?
My digital camera is a Kodak EasyShare CX7430. I had some pictures on the internal memory and they got erased, and unfortunately it seems I cannot restore them. When I hook the camera up to my computer, it recognizes it as a device, not removable media. I would be willing to do anything, as I am also going to contact Kodak. Since the camera doesn’t work anymore anyway, I would also be willing to take the camera apart. Please help me! I have tried numerous programs and so far nothing works. Thank you!

I’ve looked and looked, and I haven’t seen any way of recovering photos from internal memory. With a media card, you are able to mount the card as a drive and search it for missing files. With internal memory, there’s no way for any recovery program to access the memory, since it is accessed by the camera’s proprietary software interface.

Here’s the support page for your camera.

You should be able to find the tech support contact info there. Hopefully they will have a better answer than mine.

Q&A: ML648S digital media player (2 gb) How to get to equalizer modes?

Question by : ML648S digital media player (2 gb) How to get to equalizer modes?
Hello there! I was wondering after a hectic attempt of adding Media Player Utilities 4.24 unto my computer. TO no avail, I tried getting to the equalizer settings after I added this program. But this was only for the videos. I press “mode” after I unplug it and try using it myself. I have settings, music, movie and pictures. When I go to settings, like it says on the hand out manual. I have these options:

LCD Set
Language
Online Device
Memory Info
Firmware Vers.
Remove MTP INFO
Default

and
Exit.

Does anyone know, how to get to Equalizer settings such as SRS WOW Mode and alternate Play Modes? If anyone does thank you!! Highly appreciated.

Answer by JJ
Play a song. While the song is playing hit the round button on the side and that takes you to the SRS Wow, Shuffle etc. The firmware setup on these players is wonky I know but, it was cheap and I use it at the gym. When the song is not playing/paused hitting the round button takes you to an explorer type interface.

What’s the opposite of digital media?

Question by : What’s the opposite of digital media?
I’m a design student majoring in visual communications, but I also do hands on work like airbrushing, painted murals, and custom canvases and candles, and many other medias. I’m developing a website for one of my classes but I’m not sure what to call the tab for my “physical artwork” I assumed it was analog, but after some research I found this article:

“Analog, as its name suggests, refers to being analogous to something. If we’re referring to the adjective used in technology, the definition of analog is:

Of, relating to, or being a device in which data are represented by continuously variable, measurable, physical quantities, such as length, width, voltage, or pressure. – Wordnik

So a great example of an analog technology would be a vinyl record. The audio is stored as waves (variable data) within the grooves of the vinyl. Digital audio stores the data as numbers, as finite units of data per second. If that audio is George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, then funk on my brotha’. What’s important is that a vinyl record is legitimately something that deserves to be called ‘analog’. Film is not. Film captures the image physically, there is no data (waves or otherwise) to be found as there is on the record.

Plenty of older (and current) technologies are analog. Just be sure to ask yourself if that device has variable signals/data, or if that device is just really old. A television with a cathode ray tube (CRT) is an analog device; a cave painting of a man stabbing a mastodon with a spear is not. Sound waves being converted into an electrical signal is analog, a film negative is not.”

So if it’s not analog, and it’s definitely not digital, what is it? What word would I use to encapsulate my physical artwork like paintings on walls or canvas’, or airbrush and bumper stickers? Please help me! My assignment’s due soon!

Question by god_is_my_savior: Do HDTVs have built in Digital Receivers for free Digital Channels?
I just bought a new Samsung 42 inch HDTV. I don’t have any cable or satellite. When all broadcasts go digital, will i be able to receive my local channels without any kind of and extra box. I’m only talking about the ones that you can get with an antenna or rabbit ears. Can I get them without an Antenna, or will I have to get an antenna and a converter box.
